In Antarctica there is a glacier that appears to be crying a river of blood. This is probably the continent’s most awing features, found in one of the strangest places the continent has. It is in one of the harshest deserts in the world in a massive zone with no ice called McMurdo Dry Valley. This area is one of the most unique places in the world as it has never been covered in ice for the entire history that we can recall and as far back as scientists can go. This is due to the Katabatic wind, which is a unique feature to this region. These winds rush through the valley at over 250 kph sucking all of the water and moisture out.
As you go into this region you come across a feature which literally is a glacier with a deep crimson red river flowing out of it. In 1911 it was discovered by Robert Scott, who believed that this was due to some type of algae. It was later discovered that the red river was caused by iron oxidation.
